Once again, it’s December.
Didn’t 2025 fly by?

There’s a good chance you’re feeling a bit worn out, and any holidays can’t come soon enough, but there’s a bit of time left, so it’s important you take care of yourself. Taking the steps to do this is often called ‘self-care’.

Self-care isn’t just lying back with cucumbers over your eyes, or getting a haircut, it’s taking deliberate steps to protect your physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. It’s not about being selfish or indulgent – it’s how you recharge, stay grounded, and cope with life’s demands.

Good self-care is often simple and consists of actions we can repeat to turn into healthy habits. It might be getting good sleep, exercising, maintaining a work-life balance, eating well, saying no, asking for help, or spending time with people who make you feel good.

What works is different for everyone, but the goal is the same – to build small habits that support your wellbeing, not just when you’re overwhelmed, but every day.

So in the lead up to Christmas, we thought it would be good to give you something easy to do each day, to make sure you’ll not just get to Christmas, you’ll enjoy it too.

Your Self-care Calendar

  • December 1 Take three slow, deep breaths. Make the exhale longer to reset your nervous system.
  • December 2 Go for a short walk and let your mind wander without trying to solve anything.
  • December 3 Drink an extra glass of water and notice how good it feels to care for your body.
  • December 4 Say no to something you can’t fit into your day. Your energy is important.
  • December 5 Send a quick message to someone you care about. Connection doesn’t need to be long to be meaningful.
  • December 6 Eat something nourishing and give yourself time to actually enjoy it.
  • December 7 Rest without guilt. You don’t need to have permission to slow down.
  • December 8 Write down one worry and one thing you are grateful for. Both deserve space.
  • December 9 Move your body in any way that feels good, like walking, stretching, or dancing.
  • December 10 Do one thing at a time and enjoy how calming focus can be.
  • December 11 Step outside and notice five things you can see, hear or feel.
  • December 12 Tidy one small space. A clear corner can clear your mind.
  • December 13 Mute notifications for a while and enjoy some quiet.
  • December 14 Check in with yourself: How am I really doing, and what do I need?
  • December 15 Do something purely for joy. No productivity, no purpose, just pleasure.
  • December 16 Set a gentle boundary at work or home to protect your time or energy.
  • December 17 Listen to music that shifts your mood. Sing along for bonus points.
  • December 18 Get to bed a bit earlier. Sleep is one of the best things you can give yourself.
  • December 19 Ask for help if you need it. Strength is not doing it alone.
  • December 20 Take a mindful moment while eating, walking or breathing. Be fully present.
  • December 21 Celebrate a small win. You don’t have to wait for something big to be proud.
  • December 22 Reach out to someone who ‘gets you’. Being understood is powerful self-care.
  • December 23 Let something be imperfect and move on. Getting it done is often better than making it perfect.
  • December 24 Reflect on what you have handled this year. You have overcome more than you realise.
  • December 25 Be as kind to yourself as you are to others. You deserve it.
  • And one more… Merry Christmas, and have a Happy New Year. Take care.
